Forgotton Brilliance #1: Havana 3 AM

Paul Simenon’s only post-Clash project, aside from painting, features Gary Myrick on lead vocals and guitar. When this record came out in 1992, we played it incessantly at our hipster record store, but I suspect we were the only ones doing so in Cincinnati.

Easily one of the best forgotten tracks of the ’90s, though I remember the rest of the album as not quite standing up. I had the pleasure of seeing Simonon play his bass with The Good The Bad and The Queen at Coachella last year; he might be the coolest man alive.

In my previous comment, the track I was referring to was of course the killer single “Reach the Rock.” Sadly, as of this posting, it is unavailable on iTunes, which is cause for outrage.
