The Obligatory Zombie Rock Opera
In honor of the completion of the Locust Night script (a holiday present to myself), I bring you the premiere of the first Zombie Rock Opera! Link courtesy of my writer friend Suzie Ridgway.
Day of the Zombie: The First-Ever Full Theatrical Production of the World’s Only Zombie Rock Opera
January 13, from 9pm - 1am at Someday Lounge, 125 NW 5th, $10.
From the site:
After ten years in the making, the first-ever full theatrical performance of Dan Abbot’s zombie rock opera, Day of the Zombie rises from the grave Saturday the 13th. Written amongst the thriving mutant underground of Oakland, CA; including members of Hobo Gobbelins, Clan ov thee Bleeding Eye, International Maggot Theater, Nommo Ogo, Extra Action Marching Band, and legions of related projects; Day of the Zombie has been presented as a band show and as a radio drama, toured alongside Thee 999 Eyes Ov Endless Dream, and even reared its decaying head in Portland before the second half was even written.
The plot involves mad scientists, super-computers gone awry, and the destruction of human civilization, all within the first ten minutes of show. And then the real fun starts. Think of it as a more down-home version of Jesus Christ Superstar, with enough balls to tackle the best part of that story—the Ressurection.
It’s an all-singing, all-dancing, all-consuming deathfest.
Brains.
For those not blessed enough to live in Snazzy Portland, the show will be streamed live as well.
Locust Night, by the way, is now being prepared as an eleven issue comic mini-series, with art by Nick Robalik. But you knew that, didn’t you, from the previous post. You clever and attentive readers, you.
