Winter update

Cobbled from the current projects page, but with enough new detail that it’s worth making a post.

As of Winter 2006-2007, I’m working on:bc45_1.JPG

  1. Waiting for Tor to tell me if they want to buy The Blood Baths.
  2. The Secret World Chronicle with Mercedes Lackey. Fun pulp superhero podcast, now in its fifth month.
  3. Wrapping up the Golden Greats album art. UPDATE: Er, there is no update.
  4. Writing Ghost Month, first as a Nano novel, later to be expanded. UPDATE: 33,000 words later, I have set it aside for more research and plotting. What was going to be a fairly self-contained story became an ensemble piece with no less than five POV characters. Still, there’s some good stuff to work with.
  5. Learning to salsa! In Doc Martens, no less. UPDATE: Learned to salsa, though I need practice.
  6. Revising Locust Night, the zombie graphic novel, for submission as a graphic novel or comic mini-series.
  7. Building guitars again. This time I am going to master the assembly process, even if I don’t become adept at wordworking. I don’t mind buying necks and bodies. I’ll try a few strats, then start work on a 72 Telecaster Custom copy for my brother.
  8. Researching a book set in a post-peak oil America, starring Commie Cowgirl! I finished reading The Long Emergency and it’s chock full of yummy ideas - which, unfortunately, are likely to come true to some degree.
  9. Starting up the rock band again. Clark sent me my old 1967 Fender Bassman amp head, with a roaring 50 watts of pure hearing-damage power. Fortunately, Mykle sold me a speaker cabinet (actually recycled from an old Ampro 16mm film projector) and offered to include a power attenuator that reduces the overall volume so that I can crank the amp up to its sweet spot. Really, that’s all the excuse I need to start a band.
  10. Working on a comic short story with Douglas Shuler for Heavy Metal magazine from a concept he provided. Sci-fi delight! With a hot babe, of course.
