Instant Message Pranking
Surely someone else has thought of this idea by now, but I believe this form of humor needs a wider audience. There are simply too many golden opportunities for hijinks thanks to the human fallibility that is inherent in Instant Messages. The Mark Foley scandal has opened IM humor to the nation (”Do I make you a little bit horny?”). Let’s run with the ball.
Several friends and I have had fun with “unintended” messages. To wit:
Me: Okay, I’ve spread the lotion. It tingles, LOL.
Friend: DUDE, WHAT?
Me: Oops! Wrong window.
Another wicked gem. Don’t try this with casual acquaintances.
Me: I agree. There should be a White History Month.
Friend: ????
Me: Sorry! Wrong window.
As you can see, you have to be comfy with extremely self-deprecating humor. If you take yourself even a jot seriously, or worry about how people perceive you, this is the wrong prank for you. Move along.
Me: It didn’t hurt the first time, but then again, we were in the shower.
Friend: Hello?
Me: Oops! Wrong window.
Try it at home! Hours of fun.
